How Tranquilene Works

Tranquilene is a two-part formula, designed to provide both short term and long term nutritional support to the systems in your brain specifically responsible for mood and stress response. Like all organs and systems in the human body, nutrition is closely linked to the brain and nervous system health.

We refer to the two-parts of the Tranquilene formula as the “Immediate Calm System” and the “Long Term Mood Support System”, each of which contains a different set of herbs, vitamins, minerals and amino acids carefully selected to promote positive mood and a calm, confident and collected frame of mind.

The Tranquilene "Immediate Calm System"

The first part of the Tranquilene formula, our "Immediate Calm System" contains ingredients selected to provide short term and fast acting nutritional support to the systems in your brain responsible for mood and stress response.

Holistic, herbal, ingredients: Passion Flower: This herb is acknowledged by herbalists to produce a mild but fast-acting calming effect and promote a positive frame of mind. Because of these qualities, herbalists often recommend Passion Flower to those dealing with drug and alcohol withdrawal.

Ashwagandha and Brahmi (or Bacopa Monnieri): These herbs have been used together for centuries in the Indian medical tradition of Ayurveda to promote positive mood, mental clarity, concentration and memory.

Vitamins and minerals: Niacinamide (Vitamin B3): This crucial vitamin plays a critical role in Serotonin synthesis. Without Vitamin B3 present, the body would be unable to convert Tryptophan into Serotonin.

Magnesium: Studies have linked magnesium deficiency with elevated stress levels and have shown that only 32% of adults in the U.S. are getting enough Magnesium in their ordinary diet.1

Calcium: A mineral that plays a key role in your body’s ability to release muscle tension. Calcium supplementation can have a very fast impact on tenseness.

The Tranquilene “Long-term Mood Support System”

The second part of the Tranquilene formula, our "Long Term Mood Support System" contains ingredients selected to provide long term nutritional support to the systems in your brain responsible for mood and stress response.

Amino Acids: Tryptophan: This amino acid is the most basic precursor, or "building block," of Serotonin. It works like the 5-HTP but is more natural and easier for the body to work with. The body converts Tryptophan into 5-HTP, which then is turned into 5-HT, or Serotonin. Research shows that Serotonin is involved in regulating mood, sleep cycle, and many other mental functions.2 Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid (or GABA): This amino acid is the chief inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system. It plays a principal role in reducing neuronal excitability throughout the nervous system. An imbalance in GABA can aggravate physical issues like muscle tension. L-Theanine: This amino acid is a precursor for GABA and is also found in Green Tea (another herb which is included in Tranquilene). Having both L-Theanine and GABA is reflective of Tranquilene’s holistic approach to nutritional support.

Vitamins and minerals: B-Vitamins: B-vitamins have been found to be important to nervous system health. Studies have shown that a deficiency in B-vitamins may impact the ability deal with external stressors.3 Tranquilene contains B-1 (Thiamene), B-3 (Niacin), B-5 (Pantothenate), B-6 (Pyridoxene) and B-12 (Cyanocobalamin).

How long should you take Tranquilene?

While Tranquilene will provide helpful nutritional support from the first dose, the formula is specifically designed for both short term and long term nutritional support and it should be expected that some time will be required to reach full effectiveness. Unlike harsh prescription drugs which are typically designed to have immediate impact, sometimes with significant side effects, a nutritional supplement like Tranquilene is more about coming into balance (with low risk of side effects) than forcing a sudden change. We generally recommend taking Tranquilene for at least three to four months to give your body enough time to come into balance with the formula.
